Slaughter of innocents in Iraq – and FATA

April 6, 2010 § Leave a comment

A leaked video has come to light, showing the slaughter of innocents in Iraq from an incident that seems to have taken place in 2007. Please be warned that the video is of a very graphic nature, including both indiscriminate violence as well as shocking language.

As the world continues to digest this latest piece of evidence that war is brutal, ugly, terrifying, and devastating, let us remember that what is happening in Iraq is also happening in Pakistan, in the Army operations in FATA. We are often quick to criticize the West, and especially the United States for its brutal and imperialistic actions. But we should also turn that critique inwards, and remember that war is brutal, ugly, terrifying, and devastating everywhere, and that innocents become victims of war everywhere.

The innocents in FATA deserve as much sympathy as those in Iraq.
