Mass Arrests in Khyber Agency

July 13, 2010 § Leave a comment

As always, the real news is buried in the back pages:

…The sources said that most of the arrested persons were from Sepah tribe to which Mangal Bagh, head of banned outfit Lashkar-e-Islam, belonged. They included teachers and students of private and government schools. The action was taken and arrests made following a remote-controlled roadside blast that targetted convoy of the security forces and injured two soldiers of the Frontier Corps…

Translation: two hundred and sixteen people were rounded up in retaliation for an anonymous attack on the FC. And in case you skimmed it: “this included teachers and students of private and government schools…” The War of Terror rages on.
